I love European cars of the German variety. I have for as long as I can remember. And within German cars, I've always been partial to Volkswagen and Audi - there's something oddly familiar about them.

möbius one was designed as a log of sorts, for me to record the changes I make to this, one of my dream cars, which I am lucky....

Some interior photos

Since I purchased the car five weeks ago, I’ve been meaning to take some pictures to showcase the interior. One of my favorite features of the car, are the Alcantara seating surfaces. After having owned a car with leather seating surfaces for the past 5+ years, I wanted something different. Leather is great and the S4 Recaro seats are quite a sight when covered in leather. However, I know all too well that leather is uncomfortable during high or low temperatures.

As luck would have it, Audi does not offer cloth on the S4 but instead Alcantara, as the base option. Which worked out perfectly for me. Thankfully, the seats are upholstered in a mix of leather and Alcantara so I get to keep the best of both worlds.

While not a cloth nor a faux leather (more accurately defined as a mix of polyester and polyurethane) Alcantara is basically a Japanese-engineered synthetic suede. It looks and feels like suede, but it’s much more durable and resistant to stains, wear and even fire. This is why it’s been employed by premium automotive manufacturers such as Lamborghini (also part of the Volkswagen Group), Maserati, Porsche, and of course, Audi, to cover dashboards, seats and even steering wheels.

In this particular case, the Alcantara extends to the door inserts and covers most of the seating surfaces and back support. On the seats, it’s flanked by pronounced leather covered bolsters in the bottom and sides and a large leather headrest section which is embossed with the S4 logo. Overall, I really like how Audi combined an assortment of blacks and charcoals to make, what I consider, simply stunning cockpit and passenger spaces.

For my own reference and also for those that may find it useful, I have attached a PDF file with Alcantara cleaning instructions at the bottom of this entry. This comes from the official Alcantara website and should prove useful in the future.

I have also attached a series of photos that I took of my interior, which show to some extent how handsome the interior really is. Alcantara is very reflective and difficult to photograph showing a higher contrast than is observed by plain sight so the photos don’t really do the interior justice. Still, they were the best I could achieve with poor lighting and cramped shooting conditions in the garage.
